Here you will find the call for applications for the awards for the best theses on Latin America.
With the aim of encouraging young researchers from Swiss universities to engage in the study of Latin America, the Fund for the Promotion of Latin American Studies awards prizes to the best theses whose main focus is the study of the region’s social, economic, legal, and cultural conditions.
A thesis is understood as a work carried out and graded for the purpose of obtaining an academic degree. Therefore, research papers produced for other purposes are excluded from this call. The best works on Latin America will be awarded the following amounts:
a) Doctorate: CHF 5,000
b) Master’s: CHF 2,500
c) Bachelor’s: CHF 1,000
To be eligible, theses must meet the following requirements:
1. For all three categories—doctorate, master’s, and bachelor’s—the call is only open to theses completed at the University of St. Gallen.
2. They must have been graded with a minimum mark of 5.5.
3. The central topic of the thesis must address one of the specific aspects of Latin America mentioned above, preferably linked to the academic fields taught at the University of St. Gallen.
