For exchange students and researchers, as well as for members of the association itself, there is the opportunity to connect with individual alumni as local mentors and to benefit from their knowledge and experience.
Finding an internship in Latin America can sometimes be challenging. Often, it is HSG alumni who can provide valuable support in this process.

Within the framework of the Cooperative Lab, an HSG alumnus regularly serves as a mentor for interns.
As an example, we briefly introduce an alumnus from Peru who has already acted as a local mentor. He is the renowned economist Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schuldt Lange (*1943 Lima), Vice-Rector (1994–2004) of the Peruvian partner university (Universidad del Pacífico) in Lima, who earned his doctorate in 1982 at the then Latin American Institute of HSG. Prof. Schuldt is eager to further strengthen the academic ties between St.Gallen and his university through research collaboration and student exchange.
He writes on pressing economic policy issues such as Peru’s paradox of macroeconomic boom and microeconomic crisis, as well as related topics including natural resources, technology, and globalization, extending to a critical perspective on Ecuador’s dollarization.
