PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS
Yvette Sánchez,
Prof. Dr. 
Yvette Sánchez is the founding Director of the Centre for Latin American Studies (CLS-HSG) and Full Professor of Hispanic Cultures and Literatures  at the University of St.Gallen. Her main research interests include transcultural, cross-cultural studies in the Social Sciences which have inspired her work with colleagues in St.Gallen on the interdisciplinary handbook «TransCulture: Shifting Perspectives on Business in the BRIC States.» She is also the Director of the graduate program «The Dynamics of Transcultural Governance and Management in Latin America,» which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and makes it possible for thirty doctoral students to study issues of social and ecological sustainability in the Latin American context. Her publications mirror her broad interests and expertise, ranging from studies on Latinos in the United States to transcultural management.

Roberto Gutiérrez Poveda,
Ph.D. 
Roberto Gutiérrez Poveda is Associate Professor at the Management School of the Universidad de los Andes and former chair of the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN). In partnership with SEKN, he also served as director of the Social Enterprise Initiative (IESO). His dedication to social enterpreneurship is also reflected in his research interests, ranging from strategy to the public responsibility of management. His articles on socially inclusive businesses or the challenges of bringing low-income consumers into the Colombian market appeared in prestigious journals, for instance in the American Sociological Review, the Review of Educational Research, or the Journal of Management Education. He currently studies the growth of the natural gas services for low-income communities in Colombia. Prof. Gutiérrez holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Johns Hopkins University and a degree in Industrial Engineering from the UniAndes.

María Catalina Ramírez,
Ph.D.
María Catalina Ramírez is Associate Professor in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes. She earned a PhD from Politecnico di Milano (2006), a Master’s Degree at Universidad de los Andes (1996), and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (1993). She is coordinator of Ingenieros sin Fronteras Colombia. In Cundinamarca she organized the workshop called "Aguas para la vida" for underprivileged households. Her research interests include Performance Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Development, and Active Learning.
 
Iván Darío Lobo Iván Darío Lobo is an Instructor at the Faculty of Administration of the Universidad de los Andes, member of the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN), and former researcher for IESO. His work focuses, inter alia, on Social Entrepreneurship, Strategies for Non-profit Organizations, Market Initiatives for People of Lower Incomes. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering as well as in Political Science from the Universidad de los Andes.
 
Paula Marcela Moreno Paula Marcela Moreno is the former Minister of Culture of Colombia and currently the President of Visible Hands Foundation and advisor of international agencies and foundations such as ACDI VOCA, Open Society Foundations and UNESCO. She is also a Fellow of the Special Program for Urban and Regional Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a MPhil in Management Studies from the University of Cambridge and a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Autonomous University of Colombia. She served in various positions at academic and public institutions and was the first Afro-Colombian woman and youngest person to the Colombian government on cabinet-level.

Camilo José Herrera Díaz  Camilo José Herrera Díaz is the Executive Director and founder of the Fundación Un Litro De Luz Colombia. He is currently studying for an MBA at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and he formerly worked as Executive Director of SmoKCares S.A.S., the first electrical-cigarette brand in Colombia.
 
Ezequiel Reficco,
Ph.D. 
Ezequiel Reficco is Professor at the Faculty of Administration at the Universidad de los Andes and Director of the Centro para el Aprendizaje centrado en el Participante. He gained managerial experience both in the United States and across Latin America, which also informs his research on social entrepreneurship and business operations in turbulent contexts. He holds a Ph.D. in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University, as well as graduate degrees in International Affairs and Law.

Rolf Wüstenhagen,
Prof. Dr.
Rolf Wüstenhagen is Full Professor of Management of Renewable Energies and Director of the Institute for Economy and the Environment at the University of St. Gallen (IWÖ-HSG). He submitted his post-doctoral thesis in 2007 on Venturing for Sustainable Energy and he served on the Federal Energy Research Commission (CORE) from 2004 to 2010. He also represented Switzerland on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 2008 to 2011. One of his main research interests is the behavior of energy producers and consumers under uncertainty.

Dietmar Grichnik,
Prof. Dr. 
Dietmar Grichnik is Chaired Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St.Gallen. He received his Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degree from the University of Cologne, and he submitted his post-doctoral thesis at University of Duesseldorf, Germany. He held visiting positions at Babson College, Case Western Reserve University, Harvard University, and at the University of Melbourne. He has published five books and several articles in leading international journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. His current research focuses on strategic entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial behavior and decision-making, entrepreneurial finance. In 2009 he was a guest professor at Universidad Nacional in Bogotá.

Günter Müller-Stewens,

Günter Müller-Stewens is a Professor of Management at the University of St.Gallen, and the Director of its Institute of Management. Before he accepted his professorship appointment in 1991, he had conducted research in various German and North-American universities. His research interests span from Strategic and Corporate Management to Mergers & Acquisistions. He has co-directed various research projects in collaboration with the private sector; the last one includes the first systematic survey of Chief Strategy Officers in German-speaking European countries.

Christoph Birkholz,

Christoph Birkholz received a Masters degree from Witten/Herdecke University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute for Economy and the Environment, University of St. Gallen where he investigates business models that facilitate access to energy at the base-of-the-pyramid. He is a co-founder of The Impact Hub Zurich, a not-for-profit incubator and co-working space for social innovators.
 
Omid Aschari,
Dr.
Omid Aschari is the managing director of the SIM-HSG, St.Gallen’s Master’s program in Strategy and International Management, and the founder and president of the board of directors of ASG Strategy Group AG. In addition, he holds a position as Permanent Lecturer in Management with a special focus on Strategic Management at the University of St.Gallen. His research interests include Global Leadership, Leadership Ethics and Effectiveness, Strategic Management and Strategy Development and Implementation, and has gained professional experience in Europe and the USA.

Maximilian Schosser,

Maximilian Schosser is a member of A Liter of Light Switzerland, a project launched by Master students of the University of St.Gallen. He holds bachelor degrees in economics and business from the University of St. Gallen. He has interned with Air Berlin and McKinsey and Company, and he took an exchange semester at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile.
