Arte Latinoamericano

17.10.2023

Over the past two decades, Latin American art has been receiving increasing international attention. Several initiatives of Switzerland have played a significant role in fostering the visibility and current international success of Latin American art.

First and foremost, Art Basel Miami covers the whole continent and has created demand and supply for the art market in the region. But also, ‘daros collection Latin America’ (including its library in Zurich) has had a strong signaling effect for a Pan-American perspective of art; the same goes for the “Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative” acting as catalyst with the exposition “Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today” showing 40 artists of 15 countries and parting from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York to a tour through the continent.

This workshop, co-organized by the Centro Latinoamericano-Suizo (CLS) and LatAm@HSG, brings together academics and practitioners presenting their thoughts on different topics in Latin American art and its relationship with Switzerland.

The event, open to the public, promotes a direct and interactive discussion between attendants and speakers bringing along the important side-effect of informal networking.
